Welcome to The Chatting Zone World Wide Web Interface. If you already have a character, you can connect to The Chatting Zone by filling in the form below with their name and password and then clicking on the CONNECT TO TCZ button. If you do not have a character, please click HERE to go to the character creation form, which will allow you to create a new character for yourself to use on The Chatting Zone.

IMPORTANT: If other people have access to the computer you are using (I.e: You are using a computer in a university computer room), please make sure you clear the disk cache of your browser and then exit it altogether (Close it down) after you have finished using The Chatting Zone. Please do not leave your computer unattended while you are logged into The Chatting Zone without first typing AFK to put you into Away From Keyboard mode. Failure to do this may result in other people gaining unauthorised access to your character and misusing them.

World Wide Web Interface Preferences

Enable SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) connections:

Allows secure encrypted connections (Providing a suitable web browser is used), ensuring complete confidentiality and security of information sent to/received from TCZ.   Ideal safeguard against 'packet sniffing' on your network.

IMPORTANT:   Use of encryption software may be illegal in some countries.

Enable JAVA Script enhancements:

Requires up-to-date web browser with JAVA Script enabled. Click on the link below to test whether your browser is JAVA-enabled or not (You will see a pop-up message if it is.) JAVA Script improves user-friendliness of the World Wide Web Interface.

  Use new scrolling method (Requires JAVA Script 1.2)
  Use old scrolling method (Recommended for older browsers.)
  Automatically set focus to 'TCZ command:' box.

Enable Cascading Style-Sheets enhancements:

Requires modern web browser with full support for style sheets (Latest versions of Netscape and Microsoft Internet Explorer.) Enhances output, table layout and enables text background colours.

This text will be yellow on a red background if your browser supports style sheets.

Enable automatically formatted links:

Automatically turns links into proper HTML hyperlinks (I.e: www.sourceforge.net/projects/tcz instead of www.sourceforge.net/projects/tcz)

Enable graphical smileys (Emoticons):

Replaces text smileys (Emoticons) used to express emotions by users (E.g:   :-) ) with graphical icon equivanlents (E.g:   :-).)

Enable coloured text (ANSI colour):

Requires a recent web browser with support for font colour tags. Enhances readability of output by fully simulating ANSI colour (As used on text-only Telnet connections.)

This text will be multicoloured if your browser supports font colours.

Italic text instead of underlined text:

Some browsers do not support underlined text. If this is the case with your browser, enable this option.

This text will be underlined if your browser supports underlined text.

Use alternative background image:

  Reverse foreground and background text colours.

Black text on white background   instead of   White text on black background.

Width of 'TCZ command:' input box:

If you have a high-resolution display, you may like to increase the width of the 'TCZ command:' input box from the default of 80 characters to take full advantage of it.
